Literature

Overview

A literature record documents a published reference to the artwork — a catalogue raisonné entry, auction house catalogue, museum publication, art magazine feature, or any other printed or published source that mentions or reproduces the work. Literature entries establish scholarly or commercial recognition and add credibility to the artwork's documented history.

Literature entries are part of the public record. They appear on the front card and are visible to anyone the card is shared with.

Fields

TitleThe title of the publication — book, catalogue, article, etc.

Business Rules

  1. Any user who can view a card can add a new literature entry to it.

  2. Each literature entry carries an editability flag. An entry is editable only by the user who created it. Entries added by a previous owner are visible but cannot be modified.

  3. The editability of an entry is determined by whether the current card owner is also the card's original creator. If the current owner is not the creator, entries from the creator (or prior owners) are read-only.

  4. Literature always travels with a card when it is transferred. See Transfer.

  5. On accepted transfer, all literature entries are copied to the recipient's version of the card.

Constraints

  • An entry's fields cannot be edited by anyone other than the entry's author.
  • There is no limit on the number of literature entries a card can have.
